Founded in 1977 in Hockley, Birmingham by Martin & Margaret Harrold, LION began as a picture framing business. We offered aluminum moldings cut on a single-blade mitre saw, joined with steel plates and a screwdriver – products that are now some of the best-selling in our range! With a background in vehicle parts marketing, Martin soon saw that there was an opportunity to distribute picture framing supplies as well as offering a framing service. Distribution soon became a much greater part of the business and with the move to the current premises in 1987, Martin closed framing service to concentrate on distribution. To begin with, LION specialized in supplying frame hardware and sundries using a catalogue and exhibiting at trade shows to communicate with, and present products to, customers. The LION catalogue became widely available and is now a well-received must-have for any framing professional. As our company grew, so did our product range, adding framing equipment and a portfolio of digital printing products under the Fine Print brand. LION is now a recognized supplier of wood and aluminum moldings, offering a vast selection of styles, finishes and profiles, from classic to contemporary, traditional to modern. Our team is 60+ strong and works in 70,000 ft² of warehousing, office and dispatch facilities in Heartlands, Birmingham. We relish all opportunities to meet with customers, old and new, and regularly exhibit at trade shows for the art, framing and digital print industries, at home and overseas. We export to over 60 countries across Europe, Asia and, most recently, the Middle East. The LION range now includes sub-frames, security fixings, art hanging systems and products to frame and hang printed panels. WHAT WE DO We are a leading trade supplier of everything to frame and hang pictures, canvas and printed panels. We stock and supply a large range of wood and aluminium frame mouldings and a second-to-none range of workshop essentials, hanging systems and hardware. We are distributors for well-known brands of frame-making and cutting equipment, such as Keencut, Fletcher-Terry, Inmes, Alfamacchine and Morso.
